Expect Something Better

What’s Going On (.?!) No, it’s not a typo. I just couldn’t decide between asking you the question or referring to the old Marvin Gaye hit on social commentary. Just trying to get your blog juices flowing.  At any rate, my spell check is now thoroughly confused.

We just recently opened Angela’s Building. It’s designed to be a place of hope and achieving seemingly impossible dreams. I’ll tell you more in another blog one day.

Speaking of something better…

For awhile now, we have listened to what’s wrong with our country, our government and even our churches (which seem to be strangely silent especially when we need the voices of spiritual, moral and social clarity). We are dealing with unemployment, overcoming a recession and regaining some sense of national stability.

My friends, I refuse to allow myself to be hurled down this dark pit of hopelessness – sucked into some godless void by a few hopeless voices. You know these voices well. They’re on your job, on TV, and shhhh…quiet…even in some pulpits.

I want a better tomorrow for our children and ourselves. Since that kind of attitude has to start somewhere, I’ve decided to let it start with me – and hopefully infect you.  I Expect Something Better. I know there are some things I’ve written that will open up debate – good. There are many points to debate – to twist as if trying to solve a Rubik’s Cube. However, blessed brevity is always in order so I’ll stop for now. I expect something spiritually, socially and economically better – just Expect Something Better!

Dr. Ed

It’s your move…

I’m dealing with the stress of the economy “I’m broke but i’m not poor” because I EXPECT SOMETHING BETTER” Have faith in GOD that everything will B OK DON’T DWELL ON WHAT U DON’T HAVE B THANKFUL 4 WHAT U DO HAVE

I agree i am dealing with the stress of being unemployed however I Expect Somthing Better.

I agree I Expect Something Better i expect my business with avon goes down the success road

Dr. Montgomery I am in the same place you are, I’m tired of those hopeless voices speaking hopeleness to me and my children. I’m ready to hear words of victory and not defeat, Im ready to hear what our kids are doing right in the church and not always what they are not doing or doing wrong. I’m ready for a new thing to spring forth in the earth realm that spells victory for all believer’s so that we can be equipped and well able to proprell the lost to come forth. But we have to stop speaking defeat first because they don’t need to come out of darkness into darkness. I’m looking to hear more from you in the future.

I want something better for our children too and for myself and I feel Angela building is a perfect place to start. It is absolutely beautiful ! And yes It is time to expect something Better. Everywhere I turn people are complaining, people are losing jobs and yes even some churches can be depressing for some people but people have got to learn to trust God and study the word for themselves. Stop listening to garbage and and be careful what comes out of your mouths !! Thank U Dr. Montgomery for continuing to speak positive things into our lives!

Dr. M.,
Your words are always SO rhema!
I was praying and studying (yes, even in the midst of my dilemma)! Today is Thursday, and tomorrow is Friday), the day of deadline that determines if I retain my place of residence, or if I am evicted!
I was praying, to my Father, who has everything! Praying with EXPECTANCY, that He will honor my FAITH!And no matter what, He is STILL God!
Continued Blessings!

Ask for what you want. If you don’t get what you asked for it’s because it’s not God’s will. God answers all prayers. Often the answers was not what you expected or perhaps not even what you wanted, but it was what God willed. Start working with God and learn to block out the voices that you don’t want to hear. Think positive. Stop saying, this is what I want and say, this is what I will have. Believe, have faith.

Congratulations on the opening of Angela’s Building. Angela’s heart for the young generation will be felt throughout the programs that will be implemented. I declare many leaders will emerge from its existence.

Thankfully, I was able to continue to keep planting “seeds” in the ground through this “recession” – until February 7. May begins a new “season” for me and my family. How God will do it is not my business but I am expecting the best of the best. We will live from the “Top of the Barrel”. No more scraping.

How do you eliminate all the voices?

I agree-I want a better tomorrow for everyone, especially my children and myself. I am believing GOD to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we could ever think or dream possible. I AM EXPECTING SOMETHING BETTER!!!!!!!God Bless

Dr. Montgomery

I too am facing financial trials, but after reading the rhema word of Expect something Better. This has confirmed what was placed in my spirit. May God Bless and Keep You this is my Prayer.

I just come into a profound revelation; in WAITING on God – as we know to – is to keep moving [in the things of Him]. Think of it as a ‘waiter’ at a restaurant. Always moving, its’ hard, you’re serving, over whelmed, taking orders-being obedient/patient. But payday IS coming!!!
~ anointed to serve

I have found when you expect (faith) something better, you do things differently. You have less stress because you know the tide will change. You are happier because you are anticipating something new and exciting.

Roland Smith get away from alll the negative people and influences in your life. change what you can. I too am around people that complain all the time and speak about negative things all the time, but speak the word..read the word, and believe what God says.. I had to stop talking to some people and change up some friends and stop answering certain phone calls because trust me listening to all that negativity will affect you. Stay Blessed!

I have learned that no matter what is going on around me “I WILL EXPECT SOMETHING BETTER” Because I know the God we serve will make sure all my needs are taken care of so I shall not FEAR because it is only FALSE EVIDENCE APPEARING REAL.

Bless you for such an encouraging and timely word for the Body of Christ. It’s so easy to focus on the negative in this day and age. Be Blessed and keep the word coming.

The word says: I come to give you life, and give it more abundantly. We’ll, feast on the word and enjoy your abundance.

Dr. Montgomery You are truly a blessing to me, every since I have come to reside in Houston, I have had the pleasure of attending Abundant Life. You preach words of encouragement, your certainly are a motivation for me and I truly stand on your words. May God continue to Bless you and Lady Sandra, because you have truly been a blessing to me. I anticipate greatness.

THANK YOU PASTOR ED, YOU ARE ALWAYS ON TIME WITH YOUR WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT. I EXPECT SOMETHING BETTER BECAUSE IT LINES UP WITH THE WORD OF GOD. IN THE WORD THERE ARE THE PROMISES OF GOD WHICH ARE CONDITIONAL. GOD IS FAITHFUL WE MUST BE TOO. THE WORD OF GOD IS YEA AND AMEN. WE MUST HAVE FAITH IN GOD.

Dr.ED
You told me a long time ago not to let anyone box me in. I will not let the Ecomony or my job keep me in a box. I went back to school, i will graduate in December with my RN degree. You have always been on point with your messages. I will keep the faith, because “I EXPECT SOMETHING BETTER”.

Pastor ED, WOW is all I can say really! Expecting something BETTER is pretty much my life song, I guess growing up with a desire for better than what I had has stuck with me. You know the scripture says that the Lord reads the mind(heart of the soul) daily. So I always keep on my heart the things that I want, last year I desired a larger home, got caught up in the ARM deal, debt to income ratio all that jazz. Well I will be moving by the end of may if not b4 then, (Thank You Jesus), not because I have to but because I want to. So if we think on these things……had a shout in the soul…..they will come to pass. So if we change our mindset and stop the stinking thinking and think on the things that we want to see BETTER in our life, marriage, children, job, career, or whatever you want to get better then it will come to pass. Ok I gotta stop here cause If I go on, Imma scream he is so good to me.

You are so on it! We just finished prayer at church tonight and all I can hear Him say is stop looking around and start looking up! Wow. He gets the most glory when we have the least story!

Ok that was an awesome message and I could not agree more. I myself have been in this mindset for the past 11 1/2 years.
It has seen me through a divorce and close family members deaths, a flood and loosing everything having to do with a 20 year marriage, a closing of one door and many others opening, Apeace in my heart and soul that no one can take away. MY GOD IS A GREAT BIG GOD AND HE LOVES ME WITHOUT RESERVATION AND IT GOES THE SAME WAY TO HIM. I ride along the freeway and there are times when I think about how GOOD He is to me and I want to dance in my car the feeling of euphoria is so intense I want to shout and usually I do. There is nothing to compare to this joy and peace. My motto right now for my life is a french phrase “joire de virve”(joy of life). God bless you Dr Montgomery and all of you who can join in and live everyday expecting better!!!

“Expecting better” is a lifestyle! I believe it is important to expect better from the big to the small! We should be giddy with anticipation for the “better” that WILL come our way. If it takes writing it on your hand, putting a rubber band around your wrist or setting an alarm on your cell phone, you have to constantly remind yourself that you WILL live in great expectancy!

I’m with you Dr.M.!I’m tired of the hoplessness What, really,is going on?-I am expecting something better.I am expecting it from myself.I’m raising the bar and the sky meets my God’s throne room, and there is no limit.Nothing is impossible! Nothing is better to my own ears than hearing myself speak these words of faith for myself, for my familiy and for the Bride.Amen I am also commiting myself to ACL ministry

When my best friend of 40 years was having her first child, I was in the delivery room with her. She was one who had a very, very low tolerance for pain. They could not give her anything for the pain; so she had to endure. It got so bad she started to vomit. As a loving friend would do, I held the pan as she threw up. I felt so bad for her, as I could do nothing to help her, but hold the pan. She looked up in between her pain and said, “Karen, it can’t last forever.” After another 15 hours, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. That experience reminds me of the challenges we sometimes face in our own individual lives. The pain is great. No matter how our loved ones want to help us, no one can help us; but God. I am encouraged as I look back on that day. It can’t last forever. I don’t care how great the pain. It could seem as though it will never end; but, it can’t last forever. I don’t care what it is. As surely as there is night, there is day. As surely as there is left there is right. As surely as there is down, there is up. As surely as there is rain in our lives, there is sunshine. That is a promise from God. Trouble CANNOT last forever. Even after rain, there is a rainbow.

You know, God will always meet us at our level of expectancy. If our expectation is low, He meets us there. If our expectation is high, He meet us there. The great part is that He not only meets us where we are, He EXCEEDS our expectation! Now that’s good news. He says in his word, “Eyes have not seen…” Hallaleujah!

Dr. Ed…I EXPECT SOMETHING BETTER! For I look not at the visible, for I know that can change at any time, but I look to the invisible which never changes. I expect better for all of our children. I will not fall into this Spirit of hopelessness and despair. We are the church, God is our source and if he can feed the fowls of the air and clothe the lillies of the valleys how much will he do for those whom He sent His Son to die for. I EXPECT SOMETHING BETTER!

All of the comments are relatible too me as well…U are truely a blessing I been on too u since i was eight years old,I loved when the praise dancers use too be on tha stage long ago(that was my favorite at that time when i was young receiving tha word!!). And I knew i was gonna attend ALC when I became grown..u always touch my Soul with tha word, Thank you soooo much for reaching out too US..God Bless u n First Lady!!! ;)

It understandable how we allow ourselves to be inundated by the many voices of despair and become overwhelmed with hopelessness. However, God says that when the enemy comes in like a flood, the standard of the Lord shall be lifted, Isaiah 59:19. If you expect something better, stop waiting to hear it from someone else. You are the willing vehicle through which God has chosen to lift His standard. You be the voice and example of clarity right where you are!
Expect something better and become something better. You already have all that you need within you!

I love the new series on Expecting Something Better. I am in such a good place spiritually and just in life period. I am three weeks from graduating and entering grad school soon after, hopefully find a job in between that time. GOD has certainly been answering prayers, I try to pass the word on every chance I get because many of my friends and family dont come to church because of various reasons but I make sure that me (this sheep) passes his word to those who may need it but are too stubborn to realize it. I pass it along anyway because i know deep down who actually needs encouragement. So pastor keep doing what you do because you encourage me to do what I do. CHAIN REACTION OF BLESSINGS

I AGREE -I,M EXPECTING SOMETHING BETTER EVERYDAY(ROMANS 8:28)-FOR ME ,U & ALL OF GOD,S CHILDREN–WE HAVE TO STRIVE TO BE GOD,S BEST EVERYDAY(A LIGHT IN A DARK WORLD-A CANDLE ON A HILL-NOT HIDDEN UNDER A BUSHEL)-WE HAVE TO BE LIKE DAVID-ENCOURAGE OURSELVES-AS A MAN THINKETH-SO IS HE–AND WE ENCOURAGE EACH OTHER-EVERYDAY—IT,S NOT OVER -UNTIL GOD SAYS IT IS-& IT WON,T BE OVER UNTIL WE WIN(WE ARE MORE THAN CONQUERORS)–THANKS–KEEP THE FAITH

I thank you Pastor for you solid and firm teaching to expect something better. For me, it all started when I began to consistantly tithe!! I started thithing when I could not financially afford to tithe. but I had to extend my faith to trust in HIM to do exceedingly above all that I would ask or think. I know in my noa that God Almighty has my back. I see and expect it daily. HE never leaves me. HE will lead, guide and direct.. IF YOU LET HIM! There is real freedom in knowing your Heavenly Father wants the best for YOU. Don’t ever doubt that! God Bless.

You know what? Im tired of people not seeing the true potential in me. I know God sees me a great woman of God because I serve him. People either don’t want to see you move forward or have a problem seeing you move forward. The Bible tells us to wait patiently on the Lord, but that’s not the problem. It the people around you who are crushing your dreams. So, I made up in my mind to listen to the voice of God, trust him and he will finish what he has started in me. Thank You Jesus, I Believe!!!!

Its always good to hear words of encouragement. I really need it right now. The negative voices have been overwhelming. My business is not doing so well. I cant find a job. And I have been so stressed that I almost felt I would loss my mind. But I keep praying. Someday, I cry but I cry out to God. I really appreciate knowing that Im not alone. That others are walking thru trials. Because at times the negative voices tell me im a failure. Thank God for such a good pastor who keep it real. Thanks pastor.

please pray for my education.this i s my dream.things are getting really tuff but i’ve come too far w/ God to give up now so i am expecting better!

Thank you Pastor for your message on Sunday. It once again confirmed what the Lord has been teaching me this past week. The Lord indeed is changing things in our lives. Things don’t stay the same forever….It is truly time that we put our faith in action and begin to realize that we serve an ALL POSSIBLE GOD!!! Remember He didn’t bring us this far to leave us, He didn’t teach us to swim to let us drown, He didn’t build His home in us to move away. He didn’t lift us up to let us down. I say all this to encourage the body of Christ that no matter what situation you are facing, God is still in control and He hasn’t forgotten his promises to you.

Thanks again Pastor for being obedient to the call of God on your life.

We love you and Sister Saundra

I am expecting something better,I want to visit SCOAN but still awaiting for the response,my husband is working but still expecting something better,I want to register for my Degree in Policing but have no funds but still expecting something better.

YEA THAT SOUNDS GOOD.JUST WANT TOO SAY WORD IN MOTION IS SOOOOOO ANOINTED BY THE LORD.THEY ARE SO GIFTED,THANKS FOR THE LEADERSHIP,OF OUR 1ST LADY.

Yes Sis. Tonya.. its sad that the people around you are the ones that are trying to crush your dreams and make you feel like you are not special- they dont have to see your full potential you know who you are and whose you are..like I said before get away from negative people that dont try to encourage you or ever expect anything better! Believe what the Word says and Thank God finally for a pastors that dont mind encouraging you and letting us know that better days are ahead!

EXPECT SOMETHING BETTER… works for me! Thanks Pastor.

This is lovely…thank you for reminding us to be grateful! May I share a story?
Yesterday I faced a bit of angst about our youngest daughter…she is a very beautiful young lady & I noticed thru our Facebook connections she was heading into a very dangerous situation. She has been running lately with a strong party crowd, being a typical college kid. My heart broke…I cried, “Oh LORD, did I let go too soon when they were teens? Did I relax insisting they be actively involved in church activities too early?” This is the same girl who, with her sister, started a Jesus Club at recess in Kindergarten, and they led Bible studies all throughout their years in school. This is a girl who, for many reasons but mostly because of miraculous healings in her life, really “gets” what GOD is about and about loving and serving people. “Did I fail in some way?” And I knew, as always, that my place was on my knees, that He never shows me anything that I am not expected to interceed over.
So, last night our precious daughter calls. She shares a story with me about a lovely gift.
She had been out running one night and was walking back to her apartment, when she looked up through the trees and saw one single pink heart-shaped balloon. “That’s neat,” she thinks. It continues to float directly to her. This balloon was pretty high in the sky in the beginning. And as she walked, the balloon continued to float directly to her. Eventually, it made its way into her hands. Now that’s a God thing. As she walked by a car, a fellow sitting in it had observed the whole episode and commented, “That is probably the coolest thing I have ever seen!”
It is definitely cool. GOD sends pink heart-shaped balloons just when we need a fresh reminder – “I love you…..I always have and I always will…..everything is ok.”
Seriously, what is there to worry about?
He loves us.
Thanks for letting me share!

I had a conversation with some friends a few days ago about our children and our community, and the thing we all paused on was the fact that we never hear some kids talk about any goals. Like when we were kids we wanted to be something and own businesses and ect. Now we hear nothing from some kids. And I think that’s heart breaking and I wonder why ? And “EXPECT SOMETHING BETTER” pops in my mind. Is that the reason why they don’t have any goals? Or is it because no one taught them to want better?? What can we do to motivate these children??

this may be off the subject, but i’m just getting around to it…..Mary Griffin is off the chain!! OMG – where has this woman been all my life?! She really makes me re-think and re-evaluate my purpose in life. She emits the very power of life that leaves you with only one response, WOW!! thanks pastor for introducing her ministry to us…i know I was thoroughly blessed by her. many blessings,
